SF Aloha 5K Press Release
SF Aloha 5K Press Release – San Francisco, CA (September 28, 2011) – On Sunday, September 18, 2011, JCYC hosted the inaugural SF Aloha 5K at scenic Crissy Field by the bay. Over 400 runners and walkers of all abilities gathered on a spectacular day to participate in the run and enjoy post- SF Aloha 5K festivities.
The Consul General of Japan, Hiroshi Inomata, gave an opening welcome and with the sounding of a Hawaiian conch shell, runners and walkers enthusiastically started the SF Aloha 5k at 8:30 am sharp. As runners made their way around the Golden Gate promenade cheerers greeted them at every mile marker and at the finish line.
As runners and walkers finished the course, all were treated to live Hawaii style entertainment, children’s (keiki) activities, and tasty aloha treats. The entertainment included traditional Hawaiian dance performed by Ke Olu Makani O Mauna Loa and musical performances by Will Chu, Owen Iwamasa and Laureen Zouai.
