YouthWorks Projects Highlight Intern Creativity
Near the end of our program year, YouthWorks held its second annual Department Research Project Competition. Throughout the year, YouthWorks participants conducted research and created projects about the departments in which they worked as interns. In the projects, interns shared their experience working in their departments as well as an overview of department functions, the importance of the department to San Francisco, and information on current department projects. Interns had total creative freedom to design their individual projects, and entries included poster boards, power point presentations, news articles, building models, movies and much more.
After presenting to their workshop groups, interns selected the top projects from their peers to be shown at the YouthWorks Department Research Project Final Competition. In this final showdown, intern finalists presented their projects to an audience of their peers, program mentors and to a panel of judges for a chance to win a grand prize.
