Alvin Woo
Program Director
Mayor’s Youth Employment & Education Program (MYEEP)

Alvin is a native San Francisco and has been with JCYC since 1997. He is a product of the San Francisco public school system and a first-generation college graduate of the University of California at San Diego. As a member of the first AmeriCorps class, he worked with the San Francisco School Volunteers coordinating volunteer efforts around Service Learning. He was then selected from a national pool to become 1 of 49 AmeriCorps Leaders that served as a national ambassador for the Corporation for National Service, supporting and promoting service programs across the country. He also assisted with the day-to-day operations of a senior serving organization in Tennessee. Since returning to San Francisco, he has continued his work with National Services through providing training to AmeriCorps Program Directors from throughout the country, helping to launch America’s Promise and training the first class of Promise Fellows, a partnership between AmeriCorps and America’s Promise to insure that “The Promise” is met. Alvin has been with MYEEP for over ten years and is proud to see the program doubled in size. In addition to managing the MYEEP program, Alvin serves on the Board of Directors of St. John’s Educational Threshold (SJETC), a non-sectarian, non-profit youth development organization based in San Francisco, CA. Alvin’s personal interests include sports, fitness, stock market and poker. He hopes to one day found a self-sufficient youth developing organization in San Francisco.
