Betsy Merzenich grew up in San Francisco in the Haight Ashbury / Inner Sunset neighborhood and attended Herbert Hoover Middle School and Lowell High School. She graduated from Cornell University in 1990, with a BA and Honors in Government. She received a Master’s Degree in Education from Stanford University in 1993. Betsy has spent the last two decades working with youth and programs that serve them. She has worked throughout the Bay Area as a high school teacher, a director, a facilitator, a funder and a consultant. Throughout her many experiences, she has remained committed to the development of young people, believing that every youth deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential. As the director of SF YouthWorks, she works closely with her team of excellent staff to improve the program’s positive impact on youth.
