Emalyn Lapus has worked for AACE Talent Search since 1991. She is from an immigrant family and speaks both English and Tagalog. Emalyn is a first-generation college graduate and went on to receive a master’s degree in counseling from SF State University. During her tenure at JCYC, her proudest accomplishments include: 1) the development of the AACE TS – SF site into a well-respected pre-college outreach program in the city and county of SF, 2) the establishment of the SF College Access Center, a state funded educational program, that serves an additional 700 students attending SF Unified School District, and 3) the birth of a 2nd TS program in the Daly City/San Mateo county area. Her professional affiliations include: a) member of the Western Association of Educational Opportunity Personnel (WESTOP) where she also served as a Board Member, b) Selection Committee Member for the UC Berkeley Incentive Awards Program and c) Advisory Board Member for the SF chapter of the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN). JCYC is like an extended branch of her family that has provided several rewarding opportunities that have contributed towards her professional development. Emalyn’s proudest personal accomplishments are receiving a graduate degree, buying a home and being an aunt to her adorable nieces and nephews in the Philippines.
