Deputy Director of Programs

Originally from Palo Alto, California, Julie Matsueda is a graduate of the University of California at Davis and has worked with JCYC for over 20 years. Julie has worked with all facets of the agency including direct service provider for JCYC preschool programs, various middle school programs and high school programs, and has worked closely in the community to form linkages and partners for JCYC programs. In her current capacity as Deputy Director of Programs, Julie is responsible for assisting with the oversight of the many programs of JCYC, as well as participating in the expansion and development of new programs. Some of her greatest professional accomplishment include being an integral part of program expansion at JCYC – specifically the design and start-up of Chibi Chan and Kiddie Korner Preschools, the development of the collaboration between JCYC and the Department of Human Services to provide services to foster youth, and participating in the planning and development of the original AACE Upward Bound program, Japanese American Youth Services program, and the first JCYC program outside of San Francisco – AACE Talent Search, Daly City. Julie’s proudest personal accomplishment is being a mom to two children – Mika, 10 years old and Lee, 8 years old. In her spare time, Julie enjoys reading and spending time with family and friends.
