Tina Alcantara is a native San Franciscan and graduated from the City College of San Francisco. She volunteered for JCYC’s NIT-AMP program in 1993 before becoming an employee of the JCYC Administration in 1994. As Operations Director, her role includes the oversight of the 2012 Pine Street Youth Center Renovation, assists with the Human Resources Department and manages the JCYC facilities. She has been active with the Japantown community for over 15 years, including serving as a former committee member of the Nihonmachi Street Fair for 5 years and now as a member of the Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival. Tina got involved with JCYC when her son became the first graduating class of Chibi-Chan Preschool in 1989. Her daughter began participating in Chibi Chan Preschool a year later. Since then, her children have grown up and participated in JCYC’s Afterschool program (in the early 90’s), Summer Daycamp, Asian Youth Prevention Services (AYPS), and the Japanese American Youth Services (JAYS). Her son is a current staff member and her daughter was a former aide with AYPS. During her spare time, she enjoys reading, listening to music and spending time with her family.
