Philosophy and Goals
Chibi-Chan Preschool offers a nurturing and stimulating environment for children age 2 to 5 years old. At Chibi-Chan, we believe in the process of developmental stages, and we introduce new concepts according to each child's ability and age. The curriculum is enriched with exciting themes, including multicultural concepts that are explored through play, arts and crafts, cooking, dance, music, social studies, reading, science, and language development activities. Each hands-on activity helps to enhance the development of cognitive, social, emotional and physical readiness skills.
We also believe in creating an environment that fosters independence by giving children opportunities to make decisions on their own, as well as exposing them to a diverse array of experiences to establish the foundation for future learning.
**In 2007, Chibichan Preschool was selected as a Preschool For All (PFA) site. PFA is a new city initiative, implemented by First 5 San Francisco in partnership with Wu Yee Children's Services, which ultimately provides universal access to high quality, free part-day preschool programs to all San Francisco four-year-olds. Participating children will receive free part-day preschool (3.5 hours/day) off the school's regular tuition rate.

Parent Participation
Parents are highly encouraged to participate in field trips, as well as in other classroom activities, parent advisory meetings, fund-raisers and in program social events.
Emphasis is on building relationships with families through good communication and parent involvement. The staff at Chibi-Chan also welcomes any parent feedback, concerns and ideas, which help benefit the growth and development of the program.
Parent Participation Requirements include the following participation each school year:
1) 3 major fundraisers (e.g. gift wrap, See's candy, Online Auction, etc)
2) 2 program activities (e.g. carpooling, help teachers prep civilities, Costco shopping, etc.)
Parent/Teacher Conference
2 Conferences are scheduled during the year to discuss your child's progress and experiences. Parents are welcome to schedule additional appointments with our staff. We are very interested in any questions, comments, concerns or suggestions you may have at any time.
Program Announcements
Chibi-Chan Newsletter, which is an update on what is going on in the program, will be given to parents every month. Daily & Weekly Curriculum boards are located in each classroom to notify parents what their child is doing daily and what they will be doing for the rest of the week.
Graduation
Every summer, enjoy a graduation ceremony and potluck lunch to celebrate the 5 year olds' success in our program.
Parent Volunteer Services
Each family actively participates in the program at least twice a year. Parents' involvement at school boosts children's self-esteem and motivation to learn.
