The Tomodachi Summer Program offers children (entering Kindergarten – 6th grade) a unique opportunity to not only build new friendships, but also gain exposure to a variety of activities and interests. Through Tomodachi’s Club Days, children can participate in everything from athletic skill development to creative writing. The goal of the program is to offer children a well-rounded experience to minimize the “runaround” that parents often have to endure to ensure that their child is exposed to a diverse array of interests.

New for 2010 is weekly Japanese cultural enrichment. Each 3 week session will focus on a theme – Japanese Arts & Crafts, Japanese Food and Japanese Games, Sports and Toys. The children will learn and experience the different aspects of the Japanese culture from experts in and around the Japantown community.

In addition to the enrichment classes and multi-cultural activities, children will have the opportunity to participate in fun field trips. Past field trips have included: Discovery Kingdom, ice skating, and the zoo.

JCYC is particularly proud of the many children who grow up through this program and move on to become participants of the Teen Program and eventually Youth Leaders. All Youth Leaders participate in 40 hours of training to prepare them to be positive mentors for young children. Training topics include: early childhood behavior, how to effectively supervise and implement activities with children; first aid; and safety procedures. The Tomodachi Youth Leaders are supervised by adults who accompany them and the children on outings and provide ongoing training and guidance.

Hours of Operation:
9 weeks during the summer
7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (program activities begin at 9:30 a.m. and conclude at approximately 3:30 p.m.)

Tuition (Weekly)
$150.00 per week, per child

Please note that space is limited. Applications will be processed on a first come, first serve basis.

A $150.00 enrollment fee is required to ensure your child’s spot in the program. This fee is NON-REFUNDABLE and will be applied to your child’s final week in the program. Changes may be made to your child’s schedule (i.e. partial cancellation of weeks, addition of weeks if available) up until JUNE 8th. Any changes after this date will result in a forfeit of the enrollment fee. We will be offering a sibling discount rate of $125.00 for each additional sibling, per week for families with 2 or more siblings in our program. Unfortunately, we WILL NOT be able to PRO-RATE any fees this summer. Payment for services will be due at the beginning of each week or earlier.

Tomodachi Summer Teen Program

The Summer Teen Group program has been designed to support the unique developmental needs of middle school aged youth entering 7th or 8th grades. The goal of the program is to provide a fun and challenging experience that will support the personal growth of the participants. The Teen Group offers recreational activities, personal development workshops, and leadership training. Some of the past activities have included: Camping, Great America, Waterworld and salmon fishing. In addition to outings, participants will develop their leadership skills by assisting the Youth Leaders of the Tomodachi Summer Program.

Hours of Operation:
9 weeks during the summer
7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (program activities begin at 9:30 a.m. and conclude at approximately 3:30 p.m.)
Monday – Friday

Tuition (weekly)
$150.00 per week, per child.
*An additional $50.00 fee is required for the camping trip during Week 7 (July 27th – 31st)
