Short Script
Hello! My name is [YOUR NAME], and I’m a San Francisco resident calling to urge the Mayor to protect youth jobs and restore $2M in funding for SF YouthWorks. This program provides critical job opportunities for young people and supports our city’s future workforce. Thank you!
Long Script
Hello! My name is [YOUR NAME], I’m calling to urge you to protect and restore funding for SF YouthWorks. I’m deeply concerned about the proposed $2 million budget cut to this vital program. Eliminating this funding would entirely decimate SF YouthWorks and deny young people across San Francisco the opportunity to gain meaningful, paid work experience in city departments.
Since its founding in 1997 by Mayor Willie Brown, SF YouthWorks has employed over 10,000 youth with internships and created pathways to long-term public service careers. For many participants, this program is not just a job; it is a critical first step toward economic stability, professional development, and civic engagement. I urge you to restore the $2 million in funding for fiscal year 2026–2027 and fund the program at the full $2.4 million in fiscal year 2027–2028.
The city's budget should not be balanced on the backs of youth. Please save SF YouthWorks. Thank you!
